Both homepage prototypes tested well overall, but many users preferred the homepage design that lead with an “inspirational” hero image versus a promotional one. That said, many liked how short they both were, the utility shared in them, and the Choice Privileges account benefits at the bottom.
The in-stay homepage got a serious facelift from the previous one. Some users gave us good feedback about the types of information we should display in the new in-stay card, such as the room number of their stay.
Users also gave us feedback on the homepage to differentiate the promotional content from the rest of the page’s functionality and to show the user’s upcoming stays.
Both prototypes introduced a “swimlane of tabs” component in different areas along the booking path, including the homepage. Many users intuited how to interact with this section, but struggled to find the other tabs off-screen due to lack of any signifier.
A number of users missed the “Hide/show cancelled stays” button on the Stays page, and found that the placement of the map on an upcoming stay details page to be too high up.
Rewards and Settings sections of the app contain topically similar information. When asked various findability-probing questions, some users went to Settings, for example, to look for information housed in Rewards. The information architecture of these two sections needed to be reconsidered.
